Club Brugge KV has entered into a five-year partnership with Neo, a company specializing in cross-border payments. This collaboration designates Neo as the official partner for foreign currency exchange, extending through 2030.
As part of this agreement, Neo will manage the club’s foreign exchange and multi-currency transactions. The initiative aims to reduce foreign exchange costs and streamline international operations such as player transfers, travel expenses, and staff payments. Efficient payment processes are essential for modern commerce, facilitating the transfer of legal currency or equivalent value between parties in exchange for goods or services.
Club Brugge is actively involved in significant continental competitions like the UEFA Champions League. To effectively handle its international financial commitments, the club requires dependable foreign exchange solutions. Neo offers a platform that supports International Bank Account Numbers for payments in over 25 different currencies, along with features that allow the holding, converting, and transferring of funds across borders.
Neo, which is headquartered in Barcelona, has transformed from an FX trading platform into a comprehensive treasury services provider. The company reportedly services over 300 corporate clients across 28 countries and has processed more than €20 billion through the SWIFT network, including approximately €7 billion in 2024 alone.
The leadership of Neo has expressed enthusiasm for their partnership with such a prominent football club. They acknowledge that football is increasingly a global business where efficient currency management is crucial for clubs to remain financially adaptable. The experience of Neo working with other significant organizations in sports provides insight into the specific challenges associated with international operations.
In addition to collaborating with Club Brugge, Neo has previously established a partnership with Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, a team in the English Premier League. In that relationship, Neo became the official foreign currency exchange partner, assisting Wolves in minimizing foreign exchange costs by managing FX and multi-currency transactions. This partnership allowed Neo to enhance its brand visibility through the club’s commercial platforms.
Previously, Wolves had partnered with AstroPay for shirt sponsorship, but that agreement was not extended into the current season, with a new sponsor taking its place. Throughout its partnerships in the sports sector, Neo has positioned itself as a valuable resource for clubs looking to optimize their financial operations regarding international financial dealings.
